Park Beat Aerial adventure guides from around the country participated in Aerial Adventure Academy’s “Train the Trainer” course in early March at The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium. The program was run by master trainers Emilie McIntosh and Ben Haase to instruct aerial adventure park guides/monitors to become the in-house trainers once returning to their respective operations. The course focused on different types of learning styles, communication, and teaching techniques required to effectively train in-house guides/monitors. The 12 participants worked off the curriculum developed by the Aerial Adventure Academy. The course was developed to meet the needs of aerial adventure parks that may not be able to send all of their staff to professional training courses, but which, nevertheless, require an in-house trainer who can teach new employees to industry standards.
