Go Ape, headquartered in Frederick, Md., has been named to Outside magazine’s Best Places to Work: 2016. Go Ape operates 14 aerial adventure courses throughout the United States.

Created in conjunction with the Outdoor Industry Association and Best Companies Group, the Outside award recognizes the top 100 companies in the United States that help their employees strike the ideal balance between work and play. These companies encourage an active lifestyle, are eco-conscious, and prioritize giving back to the community.

“It’s really gratifying to receive this kind of recognition within the outdoor community,” said Chris Swallow, Go Ape director. “We work really hard to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests and encourage them to live life adventurously! We know we offer our guests a one of a kind of experience; so it’s great to be acknowledged for delivering an exceptional professional experience for our employees, too.”

The magazine noted that Go Ape employees receive free zip-lining anytime, performance-based bonuses, paid maternity or paternity leave, and free kombucha at the office.

“This year’s list of best places to work highlights employers who go above and beyond for their staff,” said Outside Online editor Scott Rosenfield. “Included are organizations that emphasize a healthy work life balance and promote, encourage, and reward employees to live active and healthier lives.”
