The city of Rocklin, Calif., has contracted Bonsai Design to design and build the zip lines, aerial adventure course, climbing activities along quarry rock faces, and swings at what will be called Rocklin Adventures at Quarry Park. The agreement with Bonsai could be worth up to $2.6 million, and Bonsai Design expects to complete construction on the adventure elements of the park by February 28, 2018.
The adventure park will be located on approximately five acres of the city’s 21-acre downtown Quarry Park. A long unused portion of land in Rocklin’s downtown, the city is making an effort to energize the property with developments such as the adventure park and the 1,100-seat Platinum Living Amphitheater. The city also intends to include food services in the form of a farmer’s market or restaurants, but plans to develop those separately from the attractions.
Sacramento-based Legacy Family Entertainment was contracted by the city to design 30 percent of the park, and LFE will operate the park on a revenue share agreement with Rocklin once it’s complete.
