Aquatic Development Group (ADG) was chosen as this year’s World Water Park Association Leading Edge Award recipient for its Soaky Mountain Waterpark installation in Seveirville, Tenn.
ADG designed and built Soaky Mountain and acted as construction manager for the installation. The $90 million waterpark features two wave pools, an inflatable water obstacle course, a cabana pool, a double FlowRider surf ride, and several waterslides. Construction was completed despite the ongoing pandemic and the wettest summer on record for the area.
“I want to take time to thank the ADG team for all the effort that was put into the Soaky Mountain project. The results speak for themselves with our guest reviews that we have received,” said Tim Gantz, owner of Wilderness Group, which owns the waterpark and nearby hotel and resort, Wilderness in the Smokies.

In addition to the Leading Edge Award, Jim Dunn, president of ADG, was inducted into the World Waterpark Hall of Fame. Dunn joined ADG in 1988 in the design department and quickly moved into park engineering and waterpark design.
Dunn is the latest hall of famer from ADG, joining previous inductees Herb Ellis, chairman and founder; and CEO Ken Ellis.
