On July 8, DMM issued a request for user inspection of all DMM climbing harnesses for missing structural sewing.
A DMM harness was found to have missing structural sewing (bar tacks) by an end user. There have been no accidents or injuries associated with the issue at this point. If missing sewing is noted during user inspections, DMM will provide instructions for further handling.
The bar tacks are the main structural stitching on a harness. With a bar tack missing, the harness breaking strength will be reduced. The request applies to all DMM harness styles still in service, no matter the age.
Users are requested to inspect their equipment via the Harness Inspection Sheet. Questions can be emailed to [email protected]
