County Officials in Arizona Seek Boost with New Zip

colossal-cave-090115In Arizona, officials in Pima County said plans are in the works to add more attractions to Colossal Cave Mountain Park, including a zip line, as well as additional biking, hiking, and horse trails. The zip line will run from the top of the mountain to the ranch below, making it one of the longest in the U.S.

The news comes after an audit last year showed that attendance at the park has dropped 50 percent in the past 15 years. The county subsequently hired a new management company, Ortega National Parks, to manage and operate the 2,400 acre park. Ortega is a national firm with concessions in national parks in several other states, including Hawaii, New Mexico, California, and North Carolina. County officials said the new attractions are expected to help grow attendance.
