TripAdvisor just released its “Seasonal Attractions Trend Index,” which ranks the top 25 U.S. summer attractions. Two aerial adventure operations were featured in the trending list: Kualoa, Hawaii, and Louisville Mega Cavern, Ky. They joined several well-known attractions on the list, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and Fenway Park among them.
Kualoa, in Kaneohe, Hawaii, is a nature reserve and home to Kualoa Ranch and Zipline. It ranked fifth on the list, with a 33 percent year-over-year traffic increase. Kualoa Ranch was listed as “reason to go and what to book.” Louisville Mega Cavern, in Louisville, Ky., joined the list at number 12, with a 21 percent increase in year-over-year search activity.
The rankings are based on which attractions had the greatest increase in year-over-year search activity—which translates to traveler interest—on TripAdvisor. Attractions were required to have at least 20,000 sessions in 2016, and at least four out of five bubbles on TripAdvisor to qualify.
“With Americans looking to take advantage of the summer weather to explore the great outdoors, TripAdvisor data shows that attractions in nature are climbing to the top of the trend index this season,” said Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor.
