A zip line operator’s association in the Chiang Mai district of Thailand have drawn up safety standards to be enforced at the 14 adventure parks operated by its membership.
The regulations were developed following a fatal accident in northern Thailand last October.
Operators met to discuss the safety regulations that would be applied to their businesses. Jointly organized by the Tourism Association in Chiang Mai and the Operators Association, regulations developed will be forwarded to the Tourism and Sports Ministry with the recommendation that they be enforced for all operators and not just association members.
Members of the Operators Association who fail to follow the safety regulations would be subject to closure. Santi Pitikham, chairman of the association said he was confident that with the new regulations in place, there would be a zero accident rate at all member parks.
