Guinness World Records certified a new 5,807-foot-long (1,770 meters) zip line in Khasab, a port city on northern Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, as the longest zip wire over water.
The dual zip line opened in April 2023. It starts at 725 feet (220 meters) atop Jabal Fitt and descends toward the coast over an ocean inlet to a landing platform at the Atana Khasab Hotel on Bassa Beach. The over water portion of the zip measures roughly 2,744 feet (836.24 meters), and riders can allegedly reach speeds of up to 50 mph (80 kph).
The zip line is the first activity to open at the Oman Adventure Centre, a new development from the Omran Group and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism designed to boost the sultanate’s adventure tourism business. Other planned activities include hiking and mountain biking.
