Meet the New ACCT Board Candidates Tonight

Adventure Park Insider—Boulder, Colo., Jan. 6, 2025—The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) is inviting members to attend tonight’s “Open Office Hours” at 8 p.m. EST (6 p.m. MST) to learn about candidates for the organization’s board of directors. Nominations for the board close tomorrow (Jan. 7) at 5:30 p.m. EST and online voting begins Jan. 9, so this session of Office Hours is timely. To attend, register here.

In a key change to governance of ACCT, the board has adopted a new structure, in which the growing number of Accredited Operators will have greater say. Going forward, the Accredited Operators will elect three of the Board’s nine members; three will be elected by the Accredited Vendor Members (formerly called Professional Vendor Members), and three by the membership at large. This change aims “to increase representation and provide more members a voice in voting for Board representation,” according to ACCT, and occurred “following community input and careful consideration.”

Previously, the Professional Vendor Members elected six board members, and the overall membership elected three.

Three seats are up for election this year, one in each voting category. (Read about several previously-nominated candidates here.) Any member of the association may nominate an individual member for any of the open seats, with that person’s permission, and any member may nominate him- or herself. A Nomination Form must be fully completed for any individual seeking these positions.

In another change, sub-accounts of organizations—members listed as part of an organization beyond the principal member—will be allowed to vote in the General Membership category. The number of an organization’s sub-accounts is based on their membership type and accreditation status.

Voting ends on Jan. 24. Election results will be announced at the ACCT Conference as part of the awards ceremony on Jan. 25.
